Just my Imagination

As a little girl, my parents would often say I was living in "La-La Land".  I was born with a wild imagination and could spend hours daydreaming about all the things.  I even once had an imaginary boyfriend.  His name was Slim....and he was a plastic golf club.

Things haven't changed much now that I'm grown, except I call it my "happy place".  It usually takes place in the evenings, after the kids get snuggled up in bed.   Just like I did as I child, I lock myself away in my room and turn on my music, and get lost in my imagination.  Except now, my room is a workroom (formerly known as my dining room), and music is played on Alexa, and not a cassette or CD.  Then it starts!  I put on an apron, tie my hair back, close my eyes and think about what to create.

It usually starts with one simple question.  What do I want this bath bomb to do?  I think of my customers, other moms who, like myself feel like they're on the Hot Mess Express Train, traveling to what seems to be the middle of nowhere. I think of how I can use the many essential oils in my collection to make a product to benefit YOU! Once I pick out the essential oils, things quickly come together.  Sometimes a color pattern or design comes to mind first, and I pick out a scent based on what the design looks like in my imagination.  Then I'm off to my happy place.  Much like baking, ingredients are weighed and measured out, mixed, and BOOM!

I'm often asked how I come up with ideas.  At the end of the day, I have to thank my imagination!  As I stand in my workshop making products, my imagination usually turns into this magical 4th of July firework show.  Ideas just pop up, colors, designs, scent combos.  It's a beautiful display of ideas.

I was always told to get my head out of the clouds, to focus on reality, to "plant my feet on the ground".  You name it!  I heard it!  Luckily, I'm also a bit stubborn and refused to listen.  As the year comes to an end, I am so excited to get back into my happy place, to let the fireworks in my brain fill my soul with joy, and to just create all bran new amazing items!
